R. Morgan knows what’s on the test: he spent three and one-half
years at Assessment Systems, Inc. (ASI—now Pearson VUE) in its Real
Estate Test Development program. During this period he was in charge
of developing, maintaining, and enhancing the question pools and
licensing exams for ASI’s then-20+ real estate client jurisdictions.
Morgan conducted over two dozen state-specific test development
committee meetings and consultations for real estate clients in
those jurisdictions.
His career at ASI culminated in drafting the
general examination that, with minor recent changes, remains in use, then reviewing it and all of ASI’s sales-level test questions with a national committee of
Subject Matter Experts.
Morgan left ASI in early 1998 to return to his native Connecticut
where he founded Morgan Testing Services in order to pursue consulting,
writing, and other service opportunities.
Since that time, he has conducted several prelicensing curriculum
development seminars for the South Carolina Real Estate Commission
and provided test development services for numerous Real Estate
Commissions as well as a comprehensive update of real estate
licensing exams and an exam-based Study Guide for the Government of Bermuda;
he continues to provide statistical analyses, exam revisions, and
updates to the Study Guide for Bermuda.
In addition, he has reviewed and/or revised thousands of
test questions in many of Dearborn Publishing’s Real Estate
publications, has developed numerous
“school-secure” examinations for prelicensing use by several
Realtors’ Associations, has written numerous exam-prep books in use
nationally, and is regularly invited to present
workshops on subjects such as Writing and Crafting Test Questions,
Understanding the Process of Test Development, and Developing Exam
Specifications.
Recently he completed a set of four State-specific
sales and broker prep books for Connecticut. One pair focuses solely on
sales and broker State-specific Rules & Regulations through an outline-based
presentation of License Law Statutes and Regulations followed by a
Sample State Exam; the other combines the State-specific
presentation and exam noted above with the General exam topics and
Sample General Exam of the PSI 3rd Edition,
with some Connecticut-specific information included.
Plus, with the completion of the final
national-vendor exam-prep book in the On-the-Test series and updates
to the other two, there are now
up-to-date books for AMP, Pearson VUE, and PSI. This means there is an
On-the-Test authoritative and definitive text
for over 40 states, plus DC! The wide scope of his professional
activities and publications has earned him a place in the 2008-14
editions of "Who's Who in America."
Morgan entered the field of large-volume test development at the
Educational Testing Service (ETS) where he spent several years
writing, reviewing, editing, and assembling material for the verbal
portion of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and Advanced Placement
(AP) Literature examinations, as well as contributions to other ETS state and national programs
including Georgia state-wide school exams and the National
Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP).
A professional educator and writer since receiving his Master of
Arts in Teaching English from Brown University in 1981, Morgan took
his first real estate course in 1978 while studying literature at
the University of Connecticut.
He held his first real estate license in Rhode Island, his second
in Arizona, where he sold property in Tucson, and now holds his
third in Connecticut, where he currently lives on the eastern shore
of Long Island Sound with his wife, two young sons, and countless
cousins. |
